I hope that I can share this here. I am really proud of myself and I just want to express it somewhere.
About a year ago I saw an incredibly beautiful girl at my university. It is a small university, and I continued to see her around, but I never had the confidence to approach her. Lots of things changed for me over the last year, and finally, about a month ago, I decided that I was going to get to know her a little bit and then, if things looked positive, I would ask her out.
As I said, it is a small university, so there were lots of opportunities. Once I was in the library and I noticed she was working there, so I grabbed a random book off the shelf and asked her to help me check it out. I went to community events that I knew she would be at and struck up conversations with her. It only took a few weeks, but it became obvious to me that she is a lovely person, a living breathing sunrise, so I made up my mind, and I asked her out. She said yes.
We already had our first date and it went well enough that we will be going on our second soon. I am proud of myself, and regardless of how things turn out, the insidious uncertainty that is worse than rejection is gone.
