TL;DR: Even though my boyfriend and I are in a happy relationship, I still subconsciously compare myself to his previous crushes because of how different I am. How can I stop this?
My boyfriend and I are very happy together. However since being with him I noticed I would compare myself to his previous crushes (he never had an official girlfriend before me), and I'm not sure why I do this. He chose me. Shouldn't I be satisfied with that? I think I compare myself because of how different I am in comparison to them. I don't drink, smoke, go to parties, I don't have a huge social media presence and I wasn't popular among our high school cohort (neither bother me as I prefer privacy). All his previous crushes did/had these things.
People will say "He chose you for you, so be happy with that", but for some stupid reason my mind doesn't accept that. I'm subconsciously comparing myself to them, and the envious feelings it creates are devouring my mind.
How can I stop comparing myself to them?
