I am in college, and I have a crush on this girl who I've talked to a couple times in class. Even though I am a very shy guy, I managed to gather enough courage to ask her out after class. She said she has a boyfriend, but that she was flattered. I just replied with a "Well it was worth a shot, right?" and she nodded and smiled. We made small talk for a couple minutes after (which I felt was not awkward). I am obviously going to move on, and feel that we might even become friends. And honestly, I don't feel terrible at all. I feel almost liberated in a way, and I am hoping this will increase my confidence in the future. Just wanted to say, if you are too shy to ask someone out, especially if they aren't one of your close friends, know that getting rejected is still better than being stuck on someone and wondering what could happen.
