Should I get back in touch with a guy I rejected?

I went on a date a couple of weeks ago with a guy I met on a dating app. We had great conversations online, and I was very nervous for the date.

On the date, I might have focused a bit too much on the negatives. He was very camp, not really what I'd expected, and he was very very into his science. I haven't done science since I was in high school (about 6 years ago now) and I generally don't know really even the basics, and the date felt a bit like a science lesson. He mentioned at the end though he was awkward, so maybe it was just his own nerves. Anyway, he seemed like a nice guy, but I wasn't sure it would go anywhere.

We had arranged a second date, but I ended up cancelling. His fashion sense had reminded me a bit of my brother, and that was strange too. Now I think more about it though, I think mostly I was feeling insecure about myself. He has lots of hobbies and interests, and right now I'm focusing a lot on my uni work because I'm in my final year, so in comparison I felt like I was such a boring person. I also didn't speak a lot about myself because I was nervous, and because he's not experienced a lot in dating he didn't ask me a lot (but he made it clear he was interested, and it wasn't in a rude way).

Now, for some reason, I just can't stop thinking what if I made a mistake. I don't know whether to message and see if he'd give me another chance. My main worry isn't him rejecting me, but if we went on another date and it turned out we didn't have a connection and then I'd have to reject him a second time, and this guy is a sweet person.
