Good Grooming will work wonders

Good Grooming isn't just limited to having spot and wrinkle free clothes, nice shoes and smelling good.

I've noticed a lot of men stop at that point.

You're neglecting your hair, skin and nails.

There tends to be this school of thought that straight men shouldn't care about these things. That doing so makes them feminine. This isn't true.

In fact, well kept hair(including facial hair), clean nails (hands and feet) and good skin care will do wonders for how you are perceived.

It's not a strictly feminine thing to exfoliate, groom messy brows(this makes eyes look better) or other things in the grooming category.

I learned this from watching my father, a very stoic manly man trim his overgrown brows, get manicures and pedicures and do what was necessary to keep his skin clear. When my brother commented that this behavior was girly he said this:

"Good hygiene doesn't have a gender. I wouldn't want your mom touching me with jacked up nails or kissing me with dry patches and avoidable(not caused by hormones etc just bad hygiene) acne around her mouth or touching me with rough feet so why would I do that to her? I'd still love her regardless but she puts in so much more effort than what I do in this regard so I can at least do this much"

Imagine my surprise to learn that most straight men don't share this mindset. Some women also lack in this area aswell.

Not here to judge or make anyone feel uncomfortable. It's just something I've noticed. If you're struggling to get past the first date this could be a possible reason.

Truthfully neither men nor women want to be with someone who looks like they dont have good hygiene.

(This is especially important if you're plus size as the stigma means we have to work that much harder to avoid smelling and to keep looking nice. Just thought I'd mention that since I've seen hygiene as the determining factor regarding plus size people finding partners. )
