Sorry for the length, this just happened last night and I'm still processing.
I (36f) have been dating a new guy (24m) for about a week. We initially met last year during a camping trip. We talk every day all day and have hung out twice. We've shared our deepest, darkest secrets, hopes, dreams, and goals. We have a ton in common and have similar values. Our connection is undeniable.
He showers me with affection and the most amazing compliments I've ever heard. It's like he's straight out of an old-school romance novel. He told me my body was phenomenal, ravishing, beautiful, etc.
So, last night after hanging out all day and going to his family's party, we sat in the car and talked a bit. He gave me tons of compliments about my beauty and personality and I said that I love receiving compliments as long as they're sincere. He said, "They are as long as you keep going to the gym." In shock, I asked, "Excuse me?" and he responded with, "Well, you're a bit heavy-set.." My initial reaction was anger followed by hurt. He didn't understand why it was wrong to say that. I explained that it was a hurtful comment and that he should accept me as I am. I also explained that there are more encouraging ways to express that opinion. He apologized profusely. He wants to keep dating, said he's all in and asked how he can prove that he's sorry/loves the way I look. I'm not sure what to do. Should I end things now and just move on? Should I give him another chance? Is this his one freebie? What do I do?
