I’ve been dating this guy for a few months now and everything is seemingly going very well. My date (24M) seems very set in his masculinity and isn’t insecure but I (21F) wonder when I offer to pay or drive is it like a turnoff? I’m not trying to “be the man” and my date is very laid back so he’s never said anything and I didn’t think it would be an issue considering he doesn’t seem to be the type of insecure man that would get mad about it. I just wonder on the whole, do guys get upset about that? Some background info: we’re both students, he’s very chivalrous and ALWAYS offers to pay but I feel bad because I know neither of us are made of money so I like offering or paying for the odd Starbucks drink or ice cream. Also, we live about 30 minutes away from each other, again, he ALWAYS offers to come to me and pick me up but between driving and gas I feel bad, so a few times I told him we could meet at my house and I’d drive from there to where we were going to split up the driving. When I date I always like to be fair because that’s what I would expect from a relationship. It’s a two-way street but I just want to know if I could be accidentally giving off the wrong impression?
