Hi everyone,
I’m a 23 year old male and I recently have moved to a new city. I have started to online date again. I’ve only had two girlfriends in the past, both lasted 4 months and were not serious. The last one ended around 4 years ago. I slept with people at uni and kinda liked and hooked up with someone in my final year but it didn’t work out.
In the last four years I’ve witnessed all my friends get in and out of relationships, some lasting and some not, some getting into new relationships. I’m quite confident and very independent but I’m beginning to get insecure about my lack of love life/sex life. I havent slept with anyone for getting on for two years now (not helped by covid and moving home to a ghost town for a year and a half).
Now I’ve got a new start in a new city I feel ready for a relationship but all the dates I’ve been on have just been disappointing. I’m regarded as quite attractive and hooked up with girls who are regarded as quite attractive too. I don’t feel this has helped as I’m now ultra picky. I‘ve always known whether I’ll get on with someone as soon as I meet them (friend or date) and to be honest this has served me well with some great close friends I’ve made throughout my life. However, the dates I’ve been on, I just don’t feel anything in terms of excitement. I just don’t feel like I would get on with the person even as a friend. I’ve had dates in the past when I’ve liked them so I know what it feels like. These girls seem to seldom come along though and I am getting worried that my pickiness may be setting me back.
I feel these are peak years and want to get out there!
