Inappropriate to ask someone on a date in a professional setting?

Long story short:

I work for an IT company. I and a few other coworkers were at a clients office all day helping them move to a different floor in the same building. One of their employees, Madison , really stuck out to me. She’s exactly my type. I had spoken to her once or twice before on the phone (fixing her issues, all work related) and I always had a feeling she was my type. I was right. So I spent all day at her office helping her and the others out. I maybe got a feeling she was into me. Anyway, I wanted to ask her hour but, the time was never right, I didn’t want to do it in front of any of her or my coworkers.

Is it totally wrong for me to ask her out on a date ? At this point, I can’t tell when I’ll see her again. My team is going back tomorrow but I will be onsite at another clients office all day. Is sending an email inappropriate? I’m not worried about being rejected so much as her getting offended, taking it the wrong way, and telling my boss about it.

Any advice here would be appreciated. Thanks.

TLDR: cute girl who works for a client of ours. I want to ask her out. Didn’t get a chance in person. Don’t know when I’ll see her again. Is it wrong to ask her out?
