I dream of a world in which online dating and bar fun don't involve completely disingenuous flirting. I know there is always some level of deception that comes naturally with meeting someone new but where is the line?
Could it be drawn before fake tinder profiles/unethical hacking, men swapping gossip about the -same- women they're pursuing (preying upon?), lurking for any info on their social media accounts, using blatant lies to get laid or to get a cheap psychological thrill?
We look for dirt instead of asking honest questions because we don't expect honest answers. I would rather feel the sting of a person not being that into me than being absolutely used.
There are plenty of men and women looking for a quick fuck or fooling around or even one night of company and movies. There are plenty of men and women looking for friends, a casual fling, a serious relationship. Why can't we collectively say 'fuck it all' and attract what we actually want instead of complicating the heck out of it?
Not all of us are psychopaths; a lot of us are just scarred and scared. This culture thinks it's clever when it's really just sort of pathetic.
