My (17M) girlfriend (18f) has spent nights at my family cabin with no issues from her dad. Is there a “right” way for her to ask her dad if she can start spending nights at my parents house now that we’ve been dating for a few years and she’s over 18?

My parents are okay with it, and he seems to like me. We’ve been dating for like 3yrs and in the past when she was 16/17 he let her stay at my family’s cabin so we both don’t know if this is the same thing as that or if it would be a different can of worms. We both have no idea how we should go about asking this kinda thing.

Another factor is he just started seeing a new woman and she seems to be the strict type, so idk if that’s a good thing (he may be more empathetic because he’s in a relationship for the first time in a long time) or a bad thing (she might take issue with it).

My parents both said that at our age they were spending nights at each others parents’ houses, and it was kinda a common thing. My mom even encouraged my girlfriend to ask her dad about it.

Is there a “good” way to ask this question? Or will it always just be scary and awkward and we should just either toughen up and ask or forget about it?
