Introvert. Looking for extrovert help.

Hi,

Another post from me that's in the wrong subreddit, however it's much more related than my last post. lol

I'm struggling to keep conversations going. The people I deal with are between high schoolers to college students (15-22 yrs), and when I mean "deal with" I don't mean to be harsh. I usually just ask where they go to school, where are they doing after, etc., and hopefully I get an opening where I can direct the flow of conversation in my favor. But sometimes its really damn hard, especially when I do get an answer, but it's worthless to me in the sense that I can't use the information to continue the conversation. In other words, I get uninterested because I'm unknowledgeable.

So, what else can I talk about that is appropriate for everyday use (can add dating specific, however I'd prefer not just in this scenario)?
