I (24m) have been spending a lot of 1 on 1 time with a co-worker (24f) outside of work and don't know if I should go ahead and ask her on a date.

New account for anonymity.

So I recently began working closely in a not so professional setting with this person. we got along great right off the bat and would talk for hours. It would even trail out into the parking lot some nights where we would brave the cold and keep talking. After a few weeks we met outside of work for the first time. It was definitely not a date but it was a fairly "datey" activity and we spent most of the day together. We are both trying to get into the same tightly knit profession and could potentially be working together for the foreseeable future. She has expressed that she doesn't really want to date someone in that career field and that should probably be the end of it but I'm fucking dense. There hasn't been much in the way of flirting but there has been a lot of bumping elbows and small excuses to touch as well as a lot of talk about past relationships. We are still planning outings for just the two of us but I'm not sure if I should risk asking her on a date. I would be fine with being in the "friend zone" but this feels like more than that. I'm too socially inept to know what I should do and I don't want to make an ass of myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
