[24M] If it's true that my difficulty in romantic relationships is directly linked to my parents' discomfort when talking about dating/crushes, what can I do to fix it?

Repost, cos I think it may have been dead when I posted a good few hours ago

(I should have clarified in yesterday's post, THEY'RE fine together, but instead of giving me any kind of talk, I was given a religious book on dating, when I was on the cusp of atheism myself.)

I've never had a serious relationship, said "I love you" a few times and meant it maybe twice, no relationship has lasted over 6 months, and I broke up with my last girlfriend 4 years ago. Since then it's been a string of squibs with the VERY occasional hookup (again, it's been over a year), and/or being cancelled on in the last minute.

They can't all be wrong, so, other than grow a foot (I'm 5'1 which seems to be more important than I'd like), what can I do? Just go out more, chat online less? Tips are appreciated!
