What's up, Reddit? Okay, here's the deal. So as the title says, I'm (35M) just getting out of prison and I need help getting back into dating. I'm scared that I will get nothing but rejection when I tell women that I was in prison. I am not a sex offender, nor do I have any charges like that at all, so I don't HAVE TO disclose my record, but I am a firm believer in honesty. I would never try to hide this from a girlfriend, fiance, or spouse. I definitely want to be up-front about my incarceration.
I was wrongfully convicted of a "violent crime" despite no direct evidence, but that is a whole different story that I don't want to get into here. I have no doubt that once my date gets to know me, she will see that I am not that kind of person, but I have to get to that point first. I'm sure there are certain women who are into the whole badboy with a criminal record, but that's just not me (except for the whole being locked up part.)
Also, I was locked up for 5+ years and haven't been on a first date in over a decade. What are some reputable dating services (paid or free)? How long should I wait until telling someone that I was locked up? How should I go about doing so? Thank you so in advance, for any assistance you all can provide!
