I feel guilty after rejection, should I apologise ?

I've been on a date recently, and things started off good but then things got awkward when I began being more touchy. I failed to read the mood and tried to kiss her and she declined. I pulled back any physical contact, and the date ended shortly after still talking and smiling. She told me by text that it was nice meeting me but was not interested in a second date because of the way the first one ended. I just replied that it was a shame and we wished each other good luck.

Now a day later, I feel very guilty about having been creepy and inappropriate, and about how I replied saying it's a shame. I'm very tempted to send a text that would go like : "I've been feeling guilty so I wanted to properly apologize for moving on you so fast, I was pretty anxious and failed to read the mood, sorry I made you uncomfortable. Once again, good luck !"

Now keep in mind we already had the closing off texts, but my stomach keeps turning thinking I acted like a douche trying to project false confidence. Is this a terrible idea to send such a text?
