Should I Push for a Second Date?

God I can't believe I'm posting this...

I had a date last week at a bar. I was the one who originally floated the idea. He was pretty enthusiastic in his acceptance. I had a great time and he seemed like he did too.

I messaged him later in the night, thanking him for dinner and letting him know I had a good time. He said he did as well. That was Friday, on Sunday I made a joke about a show we both watch, and he responded (this all sounds like an awkward telling of events, but it's info).

I have no ties to old-fashioned standards. I (a woman) have no problem initiating a date. Although this ambiguous second date phase is rare for me. Usually the message is clear after the first, or it doesn't take long to hear back. I also really enjoyed this first date. It was kind of like talking to an old friend.

The thing is though: I don't want to be the only person initiating. I suggested the date and messaged him after. So I'm giving it time in order to get a read. Our prior conversations were random, (i.e. not daily) so the time in between is nothing new. I guess I just expected more communication after the first date.

Maybe whatever happens happens and I just need to stop.
