I’m a 24 male who never had a date. I’ve tried this technique called “cold approaching” which is supposed to help me be more confident around women. Last year a unforeseen incident happened as a consequence. A girl whom I could cold approached reported me to the police. Just to be clear I’m not that type of person to disrespect women or try to make them feel uncomfortable in anyway.
We were having a decent conversation; she never asked me to leave or told me to get lost which I would’ve immediately done so.
I walked up and started talking to her. I believe she found that unusual. I told her I was just visiting the school campus (which was true at the time). Never got in her way just walked side to side. Talked about random stuff nothing offensive. Asked for her number before she left. She gave me her Snapchat.
Luckily I cooperated with police and all they told me was to stay clear of her which I immediately agreed. The incident scared the s*** out of me. Technically I don’t think it’s illegal to approach a person you’re attracted to.
I’m asking anyone who has experience to give me some pointers; I know I can’t ask for legal advice but any can you give me your perspective. The incident made me scared of approaching women. Millions of people have gone on dates; I’m just working hard to get my first one. The extra barrier is COVID-19 and social distancing on my campus. Thanks for reading.
