My boyfriend and I have been together for three years. Lately within the last year, I have noticed that my boyfriend complains about having to go to work a lot. Yes I get that nobody really wants to go to work but it’s what we have to do to make a living.
He will complain about working 40 hours a week (he is also a college student) but he dropped down to 30 hours a week and still complains. He normally works a 7:30-5 or 5:30 pm shift. He works as an oil lube tech and he’s going to school for car stuff.
He will also try and call in for the smallest of things in my opinion. Once for having a stuffy nose, and his car breaking down although I allowed him to borrow mine for the day and he still didn’t even want to go to work, and he thought he had something in his eye and wanted to call in.
I have my own job and I’m also a full time student and I always go to work so I’m not depending on him in any way for money as I make my own. But if he’s going to be my husband one day I need to know that we can be a team and both provide financially together. It seems like he wants a 40 hour paycheck but doesn’t want to put in the 40 hours of work.
Is this a red flag?
