I’ve been out of the dating game for awhile since my typical job has me traveling all over the country helping farmers reach their sustainability goals. I’m currently working at a very rural coffee shop until my new contract starts this spring. There’s a fella who comes in every day to collect our coffee grounds, which he uses for his vermiculture projects. His project was immediately attractive to me, and although I’ve only seen 33% of his face I can tell he’s the total package. I’ve been told I’m conventionally attractive, but I have 0 self confidence and have definitely never made the first move. This morning when I was walking in at 8 am, he approached me, I started nervous stuttering, spilled the contents of my purse on him (missed opportunity for a bend and snap), and hastily handed him his grounds whilst simultaneously ripping off the post-it I left on the bag last night that said, “grounds for worm babe.” So, in conclusion, when it comes to in-person smoothness, I have...none. I know I can be a charmer in the right setting, but a busy coffee shop is just not one of them. Any other awkward folks have any tips on how to ask out a cutie (in-person) without completely embarrassing myself?
Sorry for the long-winded, rambling post. I’ve been replaying this morning over and over again in my head and can’t stop groaning at myself. Guess writing all this out has been a bit cathartic for me.
