I'm a young single woman and I have noticed a lot of talk about girls who "catfish" guys. Purposely misleading someone is not cool, and it has happened to me. I'm wondering what is the line between catfishing and simply trying to be presentable?
For example, I would say I have a pretty face. Symmetrical, oval, smooth lips, good smile. But not the greatest skin so my dating app pics are usually with makeup to conceal my blemishes. On dates I always wear makeup anyway. But not to the point of intense contouring to look different, just to reduce the appearance of acne. If we hit it off then someday he will see my natural complexion. Is this catfishing?
One more example. I have gained weight and I would say my figure is chubby but I try to take photos at angles that are more flattering. I know how to dress for my shape but eventually a guy would see me in person if things go there. Also if I have body pics on my profile, I keep them recent. If I don't have recent body pics I don't put any up. Is it catfishing or trying to be presentable?
