I've been dating a girl for about a month now, and there have been a few mild emotional outbursts during this time period. These are over things that I don't think most people would get upset over.
For example, I got her a small, benign gift and she immediately berated me for getting her this gift, because she states that she specifically did not want any. Yes, after the fact, I recall her stating this at some earlier point in time. I can accept that it was my error for having forgotten and then gotten her this gift. In my view, most would have declined the gift calmly. Instead, she went on and on about how I don't listen to her, etc. I recognize that this may have been my fault, but I felt the reaction was not appropriate for the magnitude of the error.
In any case, there have been a handful of similar episodes over similarly innocuous things. I've dated a number of girls before and have had both short and long term relationships. However, I've never had this type of issue come up in my prior dating/relationship experiences. I felt unusually bad about this and frankly did not say anything at all. Suffice to say, I felt really uncomfortable and my attraction to her was totally negated at that time. I was seriously considering never keeping in touch with her ever again.
Have you experienced this before? How did it turn out? What suggestions can you provide?
