Past few years it's seemed to become a meme to say, "liking/doing/being x is not a personality" or some variant of saying popular things that the person saying this doesn't care for is not a valid thing and you have no or a shallow personality if you mention these things.
Other than that, the usual advice to people to be more successful socially and with dating especially is to develop a personality. I've noticed it's come to mean it seems, to be funny and charismatic, outgoing, etc. Seems a rather impossible and improbable thing to expect most people to be, to me.
I've noticed you usually get recommended to have hobbies as if that's somehow a personality, even though most people most likely won't care even if they also like those things. I happen to have a lot of hobbies but that leads back to the first thing I mentioned.
