Guy (21M) made me think that he was inviting me (24F) on a date and proceeded to use me and ask me to leave. Why ask someone to hook up at 5pm in the afternoon 3 days in advance?

I have been going through a difficult time lately, as my friend group turned against me and has been treating me poorly. This one guy in the group, we’ll call him X, starts consoling me and telling me he’s there for me.

One night, I was really upset and he asks me late at night to hook up. I enjoy sex and didn’t see the harm in it, as I’d already lost all of my friends. We hook up, I leave the next day, it’s fine.

Then, he asks me to be his date to his fraternity formal. He tells me that he thinks I’m pretty and would make a good date. I think that it could be fun so I go.

All night, he’s a total gentleman to me. He buys me a nice dinner and tells me I look great. We go and he’s by my side the whole night and introduces me to all of his friends. I go back to his place after and we end up hooking up. He’s respectful of me afterwards and tells me to come downstairs to continue hanging out with him and everyone else that was there. At one point, he looks me in the eyes and tells me he really likes me. He posts a picture of us together on Instagram. I start to think that maybe he likes me more than a hook up.

This week, he texts me and says “I’d like to take you out. Please go get drinks with me at 5pm on Saturday?” I think that maybe it’s a date since he’s asking me so early and ahead of time.

I spend a lot of time getting ready and show up to his place looking kind of nice. When he sees me, he laughs and asks me why I got dressed up. He says he feels like just “hanging out” for a while before we get drinks.

We talk for a few hours and he continually becomes more pushy. Eventually, I give in and we have sex. Then, at 8pm he says “I’d like to go do something” and I’m like “me too”. Then he starts laughing and asks me to call an Uber so he can go hang out with his friends. I leave visibly upset and he doesn’t even say goodbye.

I get it, I was used. I was stupid for thinking that maybe he likes me. But why the hell did he have to do it this way? If he invited me over late at night I would’ve viewed it as a hook up and things would’ve been clear cut for me.

Why did he have to make me think he was taking me out? It seems unnecessarily cruel and I feel worthless right now.
