I asked a girl out. Unsure how to interpret her response

I was sitting at home and said to myself, “fuck it.” I grabbed my phone and formulated a text message.

First let me clarify:

I don’t see her at school much (usually have class 3 times a week with her) but I’ve gotten to know her over the past 4 years.

So because I couldn’t really find a chance to talk to her in person and ask her out (she is always surrounded by her friend group), I decided to text her on Snapchat. (I don’t have her phone number).

Here’s how the conversation went (note that I haven’t communicated with her on snap for a while until just now):

Me: Hey what are you doing?

Her: at basketball practice, why?

Me: Well, I was wondering if you wanted to grab coffee with me tomorrow morning

Her: Sorry I can’t :/

I know it’s pretty shitty to ask someone out via text I just couldn’t muster the confidence or figure out how to ask her in person. What does this mean? Any advice in general?
