(25M) When a girl says she's "not ready to date", do you stick around or bail?

So I've (25M) been seeing this girl (26) for a few weeks. We enjoy each other's company and have had sex a couple times. However, that seems to have died down over the last week. Seeing each other less, and no sex. Brief backstory: she's been through some bad stuff. She has a history of abusive men, and men who just used her for sex. Over the last year, she's only ever been a booty call for guys. This has caused her to believe she's nothing more than that and doesn't deserve more.

She started seeing a guy back in December, but that ended badly. I've known her for some years now, but we reconnected earlier this month.

I care about her deeply. She's surprised by this and said to me "You're the only guy who's ever given a s*** about me". I want to be with her.

But after a hangout tonight, she said she's not ready to date and wants to be friends for awhile. This obviously hurts because in my experience, "let's be friends first" and "I'm not ready to date" usually mean "I'm not into you".

So what's my best move here? Do I stick around and likely get friend zoned? Or do I give her some space and time to think about things? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
