Why do couples insist on kissing so much in public?

I am here sitting at the bar with a friend and a couple decides to sit next to us.

Within the last 30 minutes they have probably kissed more than 10 times.

Why would this guy feel like he needs to keep kissing his girl?

In all my relationships I have never continued kissing my girl throughout the night.
