So let me just start with this question: Is dating in the 21st century just really difficult and there are tips and tricks? Or is it just down right impossible unless you get lucky?
I [F22] have really only been in one long relationship. I’ve gone on dates here and there, even had fwb’s that were nice and short term. But now that I am out of school and it is more difficult to organically meet people, I’ve started talking to people at bars. One guy asked for my number after my buying a round of shots for me and my two other friends that showed up. Super nice guy, was funny, and attractive.
When it came to texting, it was okay, but I was waiting for him to ask me out. So I said, hey when are you finally going to ask me out? Then he replied, I don’t know what do you want to do, we can watch a movie at my place (later found out his parents house). Now I’m not doxing anyone that still lives with their parents, tough economy, but that’s a different conversation entirely. I just was kind of turned off by the whole “I don’t know what do you want to do.” I don’t know, maybe dinner, an activity like mini golf—i mean it is summer time after all.
I’ve had a few other instances over my time in and out of college, I just haven’t found someone that wanted to do things or actually get to know me outside of the bedroom. I did my time with hookups, and I’ve healed from my previous relationship and avoidant attachment style. I’m ready to meet someone, but dating apps aren’t my thing.
Maybe I’m just trying to hard, and it’ll come when I least expect it—but I like advice, it helps especially when the only advice I am getting from friends is all the boyfriends they met and college/highschool.
Closing questions: Where do I meet someone who actually wants to date, and go on dates, not movies in their bed?
