This is a long story. I (26F) was dating someone when I became really good friends with this guy (27F). Both of us were going through a break up at the same time. We got really close and started hanging out and eventually started hooking up.
After sometime, he mentioned that he was trying to work things out with his ex - since they had plans to get married but he knew they were not compatible and that he knew she wasn’t for him. I kept things casual since I was still going through a breakup.
Over the course of time he would visit me, stay over, we would go on dates and our frequency increased a lot to the point where we would hangout almost everyday or talk on the phone for hours and he kept slipping “I love you”, “ I love spending time with you” now and then.
Before he went home on a trip, he told me things with his gf were over. We kept talking and eventually he told me he wants to be with me but he has things to work on and that he doesn’t want to hurt me. He tells me time and time that he loves me and misses me all the time, although I have noticed he still does talk to his ex sometimes, but claims it’s just as friends for some work related queries (since they are in same profession)
I’m confused because Ive really started to fall for this guy and I’m scared I’ll get hurt. Am I in a situationship or is he using me as a backup while he fixes things? I get so overwhelmed bringing up any conversation regarding this, what do I do???
