21 (M) here, I'll be brief: I've never been on a date, never even touched a girl, and am still a virgin! It's my senior year at uni and all four years I've tried to work up to asking girls out only to have advances (i.e. trying to get to know them, asking if they're free to study sometime, etc.) brushed off/ghosted. Last fall I actually did ask a girl but was rejected, no hard feelings though. I accepted the learning experience and am genuinely glad it happened.
I took the next semester off from dating and since the lockdown happened soon after, I had the whole summer to just reflect and work on myself. I bonded more with my family, my little sister called me out for not being myself all the time too and that's done wonders for my confidence. I started drawing and writing again, bought a piano (keyboard) to practice again, etc. So, come August/now, I feel pretty great about myself. The problem is that I'm just not sure how to even attempt dating right now.
All my classes are online and campus is closed more or less. So, meeting anyone through classes/clubs doesn't seem too bright. I've also tried cold approaches before without much luck, so meeting people through similar interests/tastes is my preferred way of trying. I've talked with two friends in long-term relationships about this too and they both said they met their girlfriends as friends first, it just naturally blossomed from there. I do try to make more connections with people these days and don't even consider asking anyone out, but I feel like I'm just back where I started. Like, in highschool, I did the same thing: never really crushed on anyone and was just friendly if a bit guarded at times. I guess what I'm trying to say is a relationship isn't just going to fall in my lap.
Any advice at all is appreciated, I'm sorry if my description beforehand was scatterbrained. I'm just honestly at a loss for what else I can try at this point. Oh, and I have tried multiple dating apps before, but that was a bust haha.
