I recently went on six dates with a girl who was mostly silent throughout our time together. Even when I asked her open-ended questions, she would give very brief responses. I tried to give her time to open up and become more talkative, but it never happened.
For context, we spoke in her native language, which I didn't know perfectly at the beginning of our dates, but I felt more comfortable as time went on. I shared interesting stories from my life, shared my experiences, and tried to choose topics that we both would find engaging. However, when there were pauses in conversation, I felt awkward and asked her if she had any topics she wanted to talk about, but she would just say "I don't know."
I felt uncomfortable because it seemed like the date wasn't going well. She would laugh at my jokes and stories, but mostly she would insert a comment or two and then stop. It was strange, but I realized that maybe she was just the type of person who doesn't talk much and is more of an introvert.
During the date, I asked her if everything was going well and if she was enjoying herself. I also offered to change the topic if there was something else she wanted to talk about. I was open with her and told her that I felt a bit uncomfortable because I was doing most of the talking and she was mostly silent. I gave her space to speak and asked her questions, but there wasn't much coming from her side.
I'm curious to know what other people think about this. Have any of you experienced something similar? How did you react?
