I’m asking because out of the 7 guys I’ve dated, some spanning a few dates to others a year only 2 out of the seven knew how to cook or were interested in learning. Most of them asked me if I knew how to cook (usually comes up due to whatever dish we’re having) and I say yes but whenever I ask back they say they either don’t know how or they’re a terrible cook. Now I’m not a pro chef or anything but I don’t understand the concept of being a bad cook. I’ve made some bad dishes when I try something new, it sucks yeah, but you just look up a new recipe and keep it moving.
It’s kind of frustrating that this isn’t a basic life skill most people have I guess? I mean I’m only 21 but I’ve had to teach myself a lot of it because my mom only knows how to make food from her home country. I’m also worried that if I’m with someone who doesn’t know how to cook they will except me to be the “chef” in the relationship (eating out everyday is unhealthy and expensive) and I really don’t find that role appealing, it sounds stressful. It also kind of turns me off they can’t do something so basic.
Any thoughts? Am I just around too many college age people (21-25) that are more used to box dinners etc?
