This Monday, I (17m) went out with a girl (17f) to get ice cream and we ended up watching a movie together. We talked and made conversation, but that was it. I paid for her ice cream and gave her some gas money because I can’t drive yet. I like this girl, but earlier this summer she told me “I’m not looking for a relationship right now.” Because of this, I was unsure of whether I should’ve treated it like a date or just two people hanging out, as we always just talked about “hanging out.”
I told my sister and brother about it afterward, and they said “no girl would drive 20 minutes right after practice to just ‘hang out’ with a guy she’s not friends with.” This makes sense to me, and it correlates with things she’s done earlier in the summer before Monday, but the “relationship” thing threw me for a loop as to what she intended it to be.
