Let’s say that you were in a relationship with Person 1. They’re not someone you’re just talking to, or exclusively dating. Like, they’re your boyfriend/girlfriend. You’ve been together for a little less than a year. You find your partner attractive, but over time, the honeymoon stage fades. You argue more frequently, etc., but you still care for the person a lot.
However, you go on vacation and you meet Person 2. You and Person 2 get along extremely well. Whereas you and Person 1 took several months to build a connection, you and Person 2 have it instantly. And let’s say that you catch feelings for Person 2, and you drunkenly admit it to Person 2’s friends. They tell Person 2, and then Person 2 asks you if it’s true you like them. It’s then that you realize that you never bought up the fact that you have a boyfriend/girlfriend in front of them. You see the disappointment in Person 2’s face. Person 2 is not a bad person, and you can tell that their feelings are genuine.
What would you do in that situation? Would you break things off with Person 1 to be with Person 2? Would you cut off all contact with Person 2 for the sake of your relationship? Would you feel guilty for hurting Person 2?
