A Farewell to Dating: Am I wrong for focusing on myself?

I (25f) had a realization about dating and relationships in general. I always put my whole heart and soul into it and I get crushed when things don’t work out for me. This past year my relationships have been so tumultuous that I’m turned off by dating and feel like maybe this is the time for me to focus on myself. Am I wrong for this?

I’ve been engaged and ungaged. I lived with a guy for a year. I dated someone 20 years older than me. Every single time, I’m let down because people pretend well in the beginning and show their true colors.

I’ve had a pretty good career for the past 5 years but decided to take a chance and go to trade school. I feel like I want to rediscover myself and reinvent myself on this journey. I hate that I don’t really know who I am and who I can be. I feel like I really have an opportunity to excel in this new field and to see where this trade takes me. Some of my friends an family think I’m being dramatic and altering my life too much, but I think your 20s is the best time. Am I doing the right thing by putting dating on hold?
