I just turned 26 and I’m single. I’d say I’m moderately attractive because I’ve usually been able to get dates and guys have hung around even when I refuse to hook up with them. In the past 3 years, I put dating on the back burner because I’ve been busy with work and exams (and more so since the pandemic hit) and I’ve been trying to get over an older guy at work.
I really do need to find someone though, but I feel like my options are more limited than they were when I was younger. Guys also don’t seem to take me seriously when I tell them that I live in the middle class suburbs “where I grew up” because they assume I’m living at home with parents. My parents are in fact overseas and own a nice condo.
The house I’m in now is solely under my name and was bought by my parents when I started college. They’d saved $ for my college tuition but I ended up getting a full ride, so they used the funds to purchase a home for me, which has appreciated 30% in the last 8 years.
Right now I make $80k and have $110k in liquid assets. My net worth is about $500k. I don’t tell any of my dates but I do wonder if I should share any of this? I feel like I’m not taken seriously once men assume that I’m living at home.
