Money scam on bumble

I’m sharing this to get it off my chest about what happened recently.

I am 28F and joined bumble for the first time few months ago. I was planning to shift to THAT CITY in April So I set my location to THAT CITY to meet good matches . And I met one guy who claimed to be 36 and looked good . He said he recently shifted to THAT CITY from states and trying to setup his business in THAT CITY . We chatted for a week but we both were not very active in bumble so he asked me to add on whatsapp and I agreed .
he was so nice to talk to . I realised we were kind of similar in personalities ( he pretended so GOOD LOL)

We instantly hit it off. We had such nice conversations related to our goals , the kind of life we want , family and I started liking him.
I asked if he had Instagram and he said no. I started feeling something was off but I thought, maybe not everyone has Instagram. Then I asked if he had LinkedIn and he said no again.
It was hard to digest that someone building a business wasn’t present online.
I asked if he had any friends, and he mentioned he had gone through a tough breakup and moved on. He barely had any friends in THAT CITY —just some business acquaintances. (I believed him because I had also gone through a tough breakup and had deactivated all my social media for a year.)

He knew I was having my doubts, so he shared a picture of his passport. I kind of believed him.
He also used to share his pictures and I once asked him to take a screenshot and show me the picture info to see when it was taken. They were all recent pictures he had clicked just for me. I believed everything.

Few days later he said he had to travel to the UAE for business. He showed me his boarding pass and travel photos, so I believed him. He claimed he had Wi-Fi issues and couldn’t use WhatsApp without a VPN, which made sense to me since I’d experienced the same in the UAE.He even shared his live location on whatsapp which was correct

he said a machine had broken down and he couldn’t email the supplier due to network issues. I agreed to email them for him on his behalf. The supplier asked for payment and he said he’d handle it—but then claimed his payment portal wasn’t working. He gave me his login details so I could pay from his account which appeared to have millions. ( the portal was shady as fuck)

I made the payment from his account while being on call with him .the rest was to be paid upon delivery, after which the company would send us an activation code (I believed all of this nonsense). He even sent me a picture of the machine and asked me to complete the rest of the payment since the portal was still not working for him.
I tried to log in but it showed the account was blocked because they suspected a payment from a new location. He asked me to email the portal’s support team saying it was urgent and he needed the money right away.

The support team replied that his account was suspended and he would have to visit a branch in person which was in the US. He then started acting helpless, saying all his cards were blocked and he only had a little cash left. Then… he started asking me for MONEY.

That’s when I realised IT WAS ALL SCAM . I blocked him immediately but I’m still shaken by what happened. I dont know how will I ever trust people again online .
