The title really says it all. I made a post a few days ago because I (24M) had the prettiest waitress at my favorite japanese restaraunt that i frequent give me her number. We would casually chat and exchange laughs anytime I was eating there- I had a feeling that we both liked eachother but I am introverted, inexperienced with dating and definitely would never have made the first move.
I texted her 2 days after she had given me her number because I had a busy weekend- a wedding reception, a friend in town from out of state, and a family gathering all within a couple of days. I eagerly texted her on Sunday evening and I never got a response. I first chalked it off as maybe she was working. And then maybe she just went to bed, or was passed out before I sent it. But here we are the next day and I still have no response.
She gave me her number, with her name, and the nickname "sushi girl". she always called me "toes" because I wear Vibram toe shoes, so I laughed and called her sushi girl when she gave me the number.
I text her saying "hey there Sushi Girl, its (my name) Toes. Thanks for your number! hope your weekend treated you well, mine was pretty busy".
Maybe I was too joking/goofy with my first text, but sheesh. I would have expected atleast a response.
As someone who never gets girls numbers, let alone girls I am actually interested in, this hit me pretty heavy. I am saddened by the lack of a response, but not altogether surprised. I was just so overjoyed that I had gotten her number with out any effort. I was hoping maybe things were lining up in a way for me to have a few dates and get to know this girl.
Was i too weird with my first text? why would a girl give me her number and not respond to my text? I feel like any time I have the slightest chance with a girl I find a way to goof it up. I thought about how to text her for like 10 minutes, and decided a light, funny opening would be best but i guess not. Do i send her another text? Any tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
