I 49M met a woman on a dating app and we started talking. After a week or so of texting quite a bit I spoke to her on the phone for an hour, pretty good convo, and I set up a date for drinks/coffee with her.
We met at this bar/restaurant I picked but had never been to since she is in a town a distance from me. The date lasted 2.5h and we ended up having dinner there as well. The conversation seemed okay, maybe not great, she did a lot of the talking. I was nervous and she seemed to be also. She was quite a bit more attractive than i was expecting and the place was freezing cold and we were seated near a drafty window. Both her and the cold threw me off and I was not super engaging and my normal self due to that and nerves.
At the end of the date she asked me for a hug and i went to kiss her goodnight and she quickly backed away saying you can kiss me next time and took off quickly. She messages me the following day saying she was nervous and doesn’t kiss on first dates. I left her a voice note a couple days later and proposed another date. She responded with saying she had a nice time with me but she was busy this weekend and the next with her kids. She said if we were to go out again it should be an activity type date so we are not just sitting there trying to find things to talk about.
Our text convo has kind of trailed off and I am a bit disappointed especially as this was my first date in a long time, and a bit rusty obviously. Is there any point at all trying for another date again, with something fun and a date/time, or should i just delete her number from my phone? I feel badly screwing up the date this badly with someone i genuinely liked even before we met in person and would like a second chance.
