I (F23) went out on a first date with a guy (M24) for drinks. The date was great, we talked and hit it off well enough for him to want a second date. But there is one thing that is bothering me the more I think about it.
So I needed to take the subway home (1.5 hour trip), while he lived closeby in that city. After the date, i asked him where the station was as I am not too familiar with the city and my phone had also just died (which he knew). I was also pretty buzzed. So he just gave me directions and left me. Should he not have at least offered to walk me to the station? It was late at night, I was tipsy, phoneless and could have gotten lost. He also did not check to make sure I got home.
It's not like I needed him to go with me, I am perfectly able to take care of myself and I obviously got home fine, but it would have been nice to see some extra kindness and him caring about my safety. So this has just been bothering me, but I don't know if it is common first date behavior and I am expecting too much chivalry, which may not exist, or if I have an actual reason to be irritated. Am I making it into too big of a deal? Should I go on another date?
Edit: Walk to the station was hardly 10 mins.
