About a month ago an old acquaintance reached out to me via text and we’ve been chatting ever since. It was subtly flirty and he soon admitted he’d long had a crush on me from a distance.
We live some distance apart so haven’t met up, but had made plans to see each other a few weeks from now.
At first texting him was so fun and refreshing. He seemed genuinely interested in me, we have a lot in common, and he’s never made it overtly sexual which I loved.
Over the last week or two his replies have been getting slower, shorter. He told me he felt exhausted from work and was trying to work out what his next steps in life should be. There was one instance where he politely let me know he wouldn’t be responding for a couple days for this reason, I didn’t question it or take it personally.
A few days ago he stopped replying mid convo without warning. I thought I might be getting ghosted and it hurt a bit. He has replied today, briefly apologising and saying he didn’t feel himself.
I’m really torn on this one. I can’t tell if he’s genuine or losing interest. Or, if he’s not losing interest, whether I should be putting up with this anyway? Is it unreasonable for me to expect a courtesy text at this stage, when someone’s not feeling themselves?
