At first, I didn’t think much of it. I’m not the type to expect extravagant gifts or over-the-top gestures. But over time, I started noticing—I was never spoiled. Not in the smallest ways. No surprise coffee, no little things just because, no effort to make me feel special.
I’d see other people in relationships getting thoughtful gestures, even the tiniest things that showed their partner cared. And I’d convince myself it didn’t matter. But deep down, it did. Because when someone truly values you, they want to spoil you—even if it’s just with effort, time, or small things that show they’re thinking of you.
Looking back, it wasn’t about the gifts. It was about the fact that he never even thought to try.
