So there's somebody at work who I used to line manage. He was pretty lovely actually, very funny, clever and was honestly just a pleasure to manage. I started to realise he was attracted to me and to be honest, I was attracted to him too. He wasn't bad to look at and I really admired how resilient and genuine he was. We started getting closer and he dropped hints here and there that he felt something for me, but he always managed to do it without pushing boundaries or crossing a line but I completely see why he thought the feelings were reciprocated. But then I got a promotion, he got a new job and although he was sticking around in the company to finish a project, we wouldn't be working together anymore. He asked me out over text after our last meeting and I just froze. I worry about what people from work will think and it was the first time he acknowledged what was between us but ultimately, I didn't have it in me to just tell him that or tell him I wasn't sure. So I said yes, but delayed it until he started his new job. And like clockwork, he starts his new job and tries to arrange. Three weeks have passed at this point and I didn't expect him to follow up. It turns out he moved house since we last spoke and a fifteen minute walk from me. He was lovely and not pushy, as predicted but a week has gone by now without me saying anything. I don't know why I haven't replied, I'm just feeling super anxious. But today, he sent me this:
"Hey, hope your birthday weekend was lovely! I was hoping to give you a call after work today if that’s okay? Ngl, when collegue said to go round to yours yesterday to get the phones, I may or may not have shat myself a bit hahah - made me realise I don’t really have a good idea of where you’re at now that a bit of time has passed, but that I’d really like to find out if talking about it makes sense for you as well x"
And I'm literally dying. What on earth do I reply? Is this message a red flag?
