I’m trying to figure out if this I’ve been getting close to might like me — would love your insight. Here’s a summary of what’s happened so far: • We met a few months ago and quickly formed a strong connection. I always feel safe, calm, and seen when I’m around him. • He remembers small things I say (like my favorite music or when my new job started), and even gave me a very thoughtful gift — a CD by an artist I had mentioned. He also listens and saves my playlists • We’ve gone on walks together, hung out with friends and hung out just the two of us for hours (6+ at times), even when he had work to do. • We often have long, warm hugs. He gives me his jacket, touches feel intentional but gentle (e.g., letting me play with his rings), and he stays close when we’re in group settings. • He offered me his jacket even when I had my own and it wasn’t cold. He talked about how i should hang out with all of his friends sometime • He has told me several times I should come see his house and mentioned watching movies together, but hasn’t actively planned it yet — he seems shy and maybe unsure. • Over text he can be a bit reserved or slow to reply, but in person it feels intimate and emotionally charged — sometimes even tense especially the eye contact, in a good way). • I’ve been the one initiating more often, which has made me pull back recently to see if he’ll make a move on his own. • I worry about misreading things and projecting feelings onto a platonic connection, even though the moments we share feel emotionally meaningful and sometimes even romantic to me.
• I feel a lot of unspoken tension when we’re alone — in a good way, but I get nervous. • I get the urge to touch him or hug him more than I let myself. • I feel like I’m catching feelings, but I’m scared of being too much or misreading it. • I want to kiss him but I’m scared he doesn’t feel the same — or that I’ll ruin it.
My question: if you acted this way around someone — would it likely mean you’re interested in them romantically? Or could this still be purely platonic?
I’d also love any advice on how to tell the difference between deep platonic interest vs romantic interest. Thank you!
