I (31M) recently started seeing a 26-year-old woman who casually mentioned that I’m the youngest guy she’s ever dated. Not the oldest, but the youngest. Pretty surprised to hear that coming from a 26-year-woman. What surprised me even more was that she explicitly said she typically doesn’t see men around her age - or younger - as “men,” which caught me off guard.
She seems super grounded, confident, and emotionally aware, so I wasn’t expecting such a firm stance. I didn’t take offense, but it did make me curious. Is there a known psychological reason or pattern behind women who are only attracted to older men? Is it tied to maturity, upbringing, past relationship experiences, or something else entirely?
I’d love to hear perspectives, especially from women who feel the same way or have dated older men exclusively. And I am not talking "older" as in having only a 2-4 year old age gap - I'm talking about at least like 10 years (maybe slightly less) apart. What drives that preference? Is it about emotional security, life experience, traditional roles, or something deeper?
Not judging. Everyone has their own preferences. But just genuinely curious and trying to understand where this preference/mindset comes from.
