Has anyone loved someone that they couldn't have or even tell?

I really like someone and have such a strong connection with them, but they aren't interested. They live a life of detachment from things, and I feel if I even tell them, which I never will, they will just tell everybody we both know, and they will avoid me due to embarrasment
