I confessed my feelings to my female friend who's never even been on a date, she's 28 and she says she sees me as a friend and she doesn't want to have a relationship at the moment. Should I give up completely?

So I stayed at their house with her mom and sister for 3 weeks since we're good friends. She had talked to them about me before and how they suspected even before my confession that I might like her. After I left their home, however, both her mom and her sister messaged me and told me not to give up on her, I was respectful of her decision at the time and wanted to remain her friend. What should I do? I really like her and I've been really sad, should I give up completely or give her space for a couple of months and ask her out after a couple of months or even a year?
