I (30F) have been texting a guy (40M) everyday for 6 weeks. On the fourth week I asked him to meet up but he didn’t really take me up on the offer. So the next day I asked him if he would like to be friends instead since he doesn’t seem interested in meeting. He then proceeded to set up plans the next day. We met and it was a good date. I then asked him if he’d like to go hiking sometime and he said : yes, someday. I feel like it’s like pulling teeth for him to go out with me. I’m sure he’s busy. He has a great career and he’s moving to a new apartment. But I’ve frankly lost interest even though he seems pretty great. My heart is just not in it anymore. How would you end this? He’s texted me twice which I have ignored for a few days.
The reason I am struggling with this is because we only went out for one date but we’ve both invested many weeks communicating. Not sure how to end something that never started. I’m thinking about texting him less frequently to see if he gets the hint, if not I’ll tell him straight up. How would you handle this?
