I wish more people were. I hate feeling like I have to constantly be talking to keep people entertained.
First let me say I'm pretty damn sociable. I'm not shy by any means, and I can get a long conversation going with pretty much anyone. But even still, sometimes I run out of things to say. Which is fine. But I won't force a conversation when I'm out of words.
Problem is, so many people can't deal with silence. I've had both men and women assume I'm not interested because I got quiet. I've had them accuse me of not wanting to talk because of a 10 second gap of silence in a phone call. I've even been called boring because I don't talk AS much as the other person. Like dude I just got off work. I've been in a building for 8 hours. There's nothing interesting to report. Sorry I guess??
I think the problem is, sometimes it's hard trying to decipher laidback silence vs "im just not interested" silence. And admittedly I struggle there too, but I never assume the worst.
Sometimes it's nice to just enjoy the persons company. Don't ruin a potentially good relationship because the person you're interested in isn't talking 24 hours a day.
This applies for platonic relationships too.
