I was spoiled for too long being able to just pop on the train or just go walk down the street to grab a quick drink with someone I met online. Or bumping into strangers in the city center or at random pop-up festivals, etc. Drinking was easy to do spontaneously as well, no driving to think about. Half of the potential matches on Tinder were within walking distance, the other's a short train ride away.
Now, living in a new city, everywhere needs a car. How about the bar? -Need a car to get there, The park? -Need a car to get there. Coffee shop? -Car. How about a nice romantic walk together afterwards? -Not an option anymore. I don't ever like to drive after even a couple drinks, but many dates what to meet up for drinks. Sigh, more Uber fees I guess. Almost $150 in the past 10 days, this isn't sustainable.
And this is still a city, although it's really more like an endless suburb. I feel extra bad for those in the middle of nowhere.
For people that also went from a people city to a car city, how did you adjust and get past this difference? I'm really struggling with it and have trouble making it fun.
Edit: Yes, I have a car.
